Costa de la Luz
Places in Costa de la Luz: Huelva | Novo Sancti Petri
The arch of the Costa de la Luz extends from Ayamonte to Tarifa. This area is known for its endless stretch of golden-sand beaches, which are fringed by pine groves and flanked by rivers. The beautiful coast is divided into the beaches of Cadiz, Punta Umbria, and Torre de la Higuera Matalascanas.
The immense beach of Cadiz stretches over three kilometres and is packed with fine golden sand. Punta Umbria (Huelva) boasts the best amenities in the area, with a selection of cafes, restaurants and water sports. The prize for the longest beach goes to the five-kilometre stretch of fine white sand on Matalascanas.
The two main cities on the Costa de la Luz are Cadiz and Huelva. Cadiz is known for its 18th-century Baroque cathedral and the Los Alcornocales Nature Reserve. Points of interest in Huelva include the caves of Las Maravillas and the Huelva Provincial Museum. Inland, visitors can discover lush countryside, vine-clad hills, and traditional white Spanish villages. Costa de la Luz also features excellent golf facilities; particularly popular are the courses of Novo Sancti Petri in Cadiz and Club de Golf Isla Canela in Huelva.
